You, me, & a few of my favorite blog posts

Throughout my teaching career, I must admit I loved to learn with educational technology blogs.  And now that I am retired from a full time position; there is no better way to start a morning than with a cup of hot coffee and perusing posts from my favorite bloggers. (I am a big fan of Feedly, making it even easier to follow my favorites). I am drawn to those  blogs that show educators practical ways to successfully integrate technology into their daily teachings.  It may be ideas on how to use apps that you may already be familiar with or introduce new apps that they are excited to share.  In all cases, my favorite posts are about students moving from consumers to creators with the help of technology!

I invite you to grab a cup of coffee and see what weekly blogs I’ve chosen to re-share with you.  I promise it will a great way to spend time together!

A few of my Favorite Back to School Blog Posts

I have been a follower of Alice Keeler's blog, Teacher Tech for many years. Alice shares her expertise on a variety of topics, as well as being an innovator with all things Google.

WHY I CHOSE IT: I love this blog post!  Here are a few EdTech products for you to check out, but MAYBE you should try one.  :) As always, she keeps the focus on what your goal is before deciding if this is something that will improve teaching and learning.

One of my LONG time favorite bloggers is Richard Byrne of  Free Technology for Teachers.  Richard Byrne writes about a variety of topics and has many useful videos for extending your current use of technology.

WHY I CHOSE IT: The beginning of the year is a great time to take a peek at some familiar tools that you may not have looked at in awhile.  Take a look at some of his favorites!

If you have read or listened to George Couros, you already know why he is one of my favorite bloggers.
"I believe that meaningful change happens when you first connect to people’s hearts and then their minds, and I do my best to model this through my speaking, writing, and daily work.'

WHY I CHOSE IT: Is there a better way to start the new school year than with a bit of inspiration from George Couros? (Especially in person!)

I am super excited to share this blog with you!  TeachersFirst is a rich collection of lessons, units, and web resources designed to save teachers time by delivering just what they need in a practical, user-friendly, and ad-free format.

WHY I CHOSE IT: I am always on the look out for new tools to try but let's add information about the meeting of ISTE Student Standards, a belief that effective integration is about engaging, enhancing or extending our learning goals, and then throw in some SAMR connections and I am sold!  Part 2 provides a mini PD to get you started. This is a site that has it all!

One of my all-time favorite bloggers is Matt Miller of Ditch that Textbook. Matt is a 'sharer' of all things technology and you will see his blog mentioned frequently.
